By accessing or using Court Packet Builder, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the service.

Description of Service

Court Packet Builder is a web-based application that helps legal professionals create properly formatted court document packets. Our service includes:

• Document upload and management
• AI-powered document analysis and title extraction
• Exhibit building and organization
• Automated PDF packet generation with proper formatting
• Bates numbering and exhibit headers
• Court-specific formatting profiles

Account Registration

To use Court Packet Builder, you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Provide accurate and complete registration information
• Maintain the security of your account credentials
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
• Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

Acceptable Use

You May:

• Use the service for legitimate legal document preparation
• Upload documents you have the right to process
• Generate court packets for professional use
• Share access within your organization as permitted by your plan

You May Not:

• Upload malicious files, viruses, or malware
• Attempt to bypass security measures or rate limits
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the service
• Use the service for illegal purposes or to violate any laws
• Upload content that infringes intellectual property rights
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' data
• Use automated systems to scrape or abuse the service
• Resell or redistribute the service without authorization

Payment and Credits

Credit System: Court Packet Builder operates on a credit-based payment model. Credits are consumed when you:

• Generate court packets (based on page count)
• Use AI-powered document analysis features

Pricing: Current pricing is displayed on the credits purchase page. We reserve the right to modify pricing with 30 days notice.

Payments: All payments are processed securely through Stripe. By purchasing credits, you agree to Stripe's terms of service.

Refunds: Credits are generally non-refundable. Refund requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis for service errors or technical issues.

Expiration: Credits do not expire and remain available as long as your account is active.

Intellectual Property

Your Content

You retain all ownership rights to documents you upload. By uploading content, you grant us a limited license to process, store, and display your documents solely to provide the service. This license terminates when you delete the content or close your account.

Our Service

Court Packet Builder, including all software, design, text, graphics, and other content, is owned by Cognitive Foundry and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without express written permission.

Data and Privacy

Your use of the service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Key points:

• All uploaded files are encrypted and scanned for viruses using VirusTotal (70+ antivirus engines)
• Generated packets are automatically deleted 24 hours after first download
• Cases and exhibits remain available - only generated PDFs are deleted
• Free regeneration: You can regenerate packets up to 3 times within 24 hours at no cost
• AI processing is performed by Anthropic Claude API
• You can delete your account and data at any time

Professional Responsibility

IMPORTANT: Court Packet Builder is a document assembly tool, not legal advice.

• You are solely responsible for reviewing all generated documents for accuracy
• AI-generated titles and suggestions are not legal advice
• You must verify all formatting meets your jurisdiction's requirements
• Court Packet Builder does not create an attorney-client relationship
• You are responsible for maintaining client confidentiality

Service Availability

We strive to provide reliable service, but we do not guarantee:

• Uninterrupted or error-free operation
• Availability at all times (maintenance may be required)
• Compatibility with all browsers or devices
• Specific uptime percentages

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service with reasonable notice.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

Cognitive Foundry and Court Packet Builder shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising from:

• Your use or inability to use the service
• Errors or inaccuracies in generated documents
• Unauthorized access to your data
• Service interruptions or data loss
• Third-party content or conduct

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for credits in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Cognitive Foundry, its affiliates, and personnel from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the service, violation of these terms, or infringement of any rights.

Termination

By You: You may terminate your account at any time through account settings. Unused credits are generally non-refundable.

By Us: We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, engage in abusive behavior, or for legitimate business reasons. We will provide notice when reasonably possible.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email or service notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of California.
